Nah, that's not unusual for Nam Yoi. They're popular, and sometimes the kitchen gets overwhelmed. Ordering everything at once might help, but honestly, it's part of the charm (or lack thereof, depending on your perspective!). It's more of a "chill and enjoy the atmosphere" kind of place than a "quick in and out" spot. Just go with the flow; the food makes up for the wait, imo.

Off Phang Nga Road, near the old town, there's a whole network of tiny sois (alleys) packed with local eateries. You'll find amazing seafood places that cater almost exclusively to locals – the menus might be in Thai only, but pointing and smiling usually works wonders. Also, wander around the areas near the markets; the little shops and stalls selling street food around the morning and evening markets are often fantastic and way less crowded than the main tourist areas. Don't be afraid to just explore; some of the best finds are accidental ones.
