Phuket nightlife is... robust. dCondo Campus Resort is definitely in the thick of it, especially considering the student population. Your friend's pool karaoke story sounds plausible; that kind of thing happens. Expect a mix of student parties and a more general young-adult scene. Think beach bars, clubs catering to a younger crowd, and maybe some less-than-legal activities happening on the quieter side streets. It's not all wild parties, though. Plenty of people just go there for a reasonably priced place to stay near the action. Just be aware of your surroundings, and you should be fine. Have fun, but don't be stupid.
