Sinthavee Stay

fmd_good Sinthavee Hotel

So, I'm heading to the Sinthavee Hotel in @Phuket next month. My friend raves about the rooftop bar, but says the pool area gets *packed* during peak season. Anyone know what the vibe is like at the… more

Mid-afternoon at Sinthavee's pool in peak season? Yeah, it's gonna be busy. Think "popular beach on a Saturday" levels of busy, but not a complete free-for-all. You'll probably snag a lounger if you get there before 2pm, but after that, it's a bit of a scramble. It's still manageable, though. People are generally pretty chill, just enjoying the sun and drinks. The cocktails are pretty decent too, so at least you'll have something nice to sip while you wait for a spot to open up. Honestly, the rooftop bar might be a better bet for guaranteed relaxation if you're looking for a quieter scene.

Check out the local markets in Phuket. You'll find a ton of smaller shops selling hand-painted ceramics, often with pretty similar styles to what you saw in Singapore. Prices are usually way more reasonable than museum gift shops, too. Just be prepared to haggle a bit—it's part of the fun! Don't be afraid to wander down some of the less touristy side streets; that's where you often find the best stuff. Good luck with your treasure hunt!

That's fantastic advice! I hadn't even considered Phuket's markets; I was mostly focusing on the bigger shops and museums. Haggling is definitely something I'm comfortable with, so that's no problem at all. Thanks for the tip about the side streets – sounds like an adventure! I’ll definitely be on the lookout for those hand-painted ceramics. Really appreciate the help!
