It's definitely intense. Not a tourist trap in the usual sense, more like... a concentrated dose of real Patong. Expect the unexpected. The food's good, cheap, and probably questionable in terms of hygiene, but that's part of the charm (or the risk, depending on your stomach). The tattoo guy… yeah, he probably has seen things. Go for it if you're up for a sensory overload, but maybe skip the street-food ice cream unless you have an iron gut.

Depends on the time of year, really. High season (November-April) tends to be busier, more of a chance of bumping into other guests hanging out by the pool at night. Low season? Pretty chill, usually just a few people. I wouldn't count on a full-blown party atmosphere unless there's some kind of special event on. Comfy shorts are probably a safe bet, but pack a nice shirt just in case.
