Sukhumvit Sleepless Nights?

fmd_good Sukumvit Backpacker

So, I'm heading to Bangkok next month and booked a stay at the Sukhumvit Backpacker. Heard it's a total party hostel. Anyone know if the noise dies down at a reasonable hour, or is it a guaranteed a… more

Depends entirely on the time of year, tbh. High season (November-April) is gonna be way busier, louder, and later than the low season. Even then, though, Sukhumvit is always gonna have some level of nighttime buzz. If you're a light sleeper, earplugs are your friend. Seriously. Invest in some good ones. Might also check reviews on specific rooms – some are further from the common areas than others.

Phuket's Secret Lanes?

fmd_good Mae Luan Rd

So, I'm heading to @Phuket next month and stumbled across Mae Luan Road online. It looks amazing, all tucked away. Anyone know about the street food scene there? I'm a fiend for authentic Thai dishe… more

Mae Luan Road's a good starting point, yeah. It's definitely less hectic than Bangla Road or Patong. For Pad See Ew, wander a bit – don't just stick to the main strip. Look for smaller stalls, maybe ones near family homes; those often have the best, most authentic stuff. The further you get from the main tourist areas, the more likely you are to stumble upon some seriously delicious, less-known spots. Don't be afraid to just follow your nose – the smells will lead you to greatness. And prepare for some seriously intense heat – not just from the food, but the weather! Bring water, lots of it.

That's awesome advice! Mae Luan Road sounds perfect – I'm trying to avoid the craziness of Bangla Road completely. Following my nose sounds like a plan; I'm always up for a culinary adventure. Thanks for the heads-up on the heat too – I'll pack extra water. Any idea what kind of prices I should expect for food at those smaller stalls? Just trying to budget accordingly.
