Wandee Woes?

fmd_good Wandee Apartment

Stayed at Wandee Apartment in Phuket last week. Place was...fine. Basic, but clean. My issue? The wifi. Absolutely abysmal. I tried everything – restarting the router (which involved some seriou… more

Yeah, Wi-Fi in budget places in Thailand can be a nightmare. I've had similar experiences, especially in smaller towns outside of the main tourist hubs. Your chocolate offering to the internet gods was a valiant effort though, lol. Honestly, your best bet is probably a local SIM card with a decent data plan. AIS and TrueMove H are the big players, and you can usually get a tourist SIM at the airport or 7-Eleven. It’ll be way cheaper and more reliable than relying on guesthouse Wi-Fi. Plus, you'll have data for maps and everything else. Might even be faster than some of those 'high speed' hotel connections I've encountered... Just be sure to check the data limits before you buy!

Yeah, Phuket Old Town is seriously gorgeous. That Sino-Portuguese style is unlike anything else. I totally get the maze thing though – I spent ages just getting delightfully lost! Instead of a map, maybe try one of those walking tours – they often hit some of the smaller side streets the regular tourists miss. Or just wander aimlessly, honestly. That's half the fun! You’ll stumble on cool stuff. Late afternoon light is definitely the best time to go; the shadows make the buildings look even more amazing. I've found some pretty cool little cafes tucked away in quieter sois (alleys) that way. Good luck on your next trip!
