Sukhumvit Sleepless Nights?

fmd_good Sukumvit Backpacker

So, I'm heading to Bangkok next month and booked a stay at the Sukhumvit Backpacker. Heard it's a total riot. My question is: anyone know the best way to avoid getting completely wrecked on the Khao… more

Hah, Sukhumvit Backpacker. Been there, done that, got the slightly-smelling-t-shirt. Khao San Road after a Sukhumvit night is... a challenge. Your best bet is pre-gaming hard at Sukhumvit. Like, really, really hard. Get your fill of shenanigans there, because honestly, Khao San is going to be a sensory overload either way. It's less about avoiding getting wrecked and more about managing the inevitable. My strategy? Tons of water. Seriously, carry a massive bottle around. Also, find a decent street food stall near your hostel – something substantial to soak up the alcohol. That and maybe pre-plan some sort of “escape route” – a quiet bar or even just a park bench to recover a bit before heading back. You’ll still probably smell like a brewery by morning, but you’ll be functioning better. Good luck!

Haha, yeah, the slightly-smelling-t-shirt is the souvenir you never want to pack home! Khao San after Sukhumvit is... accurate. A whole other level of chaos. Pre-gaming hard sounds like a solid plan. Maybe I should just embrace the sensory overload instead of fighting it. The water thing is genius though, I always forget how important that is. Thanks for the street food tip too – much better than stumbling into some questionable late-night burger joint. An escape route… I like that. Think I’ll scope out a quiet rooftop bar nearby. Fingers crossed I don't end up smelling like a brewery... but hey, at least I'll have a good story to tell. Cheers!

Wandee Woes?

fmd_good Wandee Apartment

Stayed at Wandee Apartment in Phuket last week. Place was...fine. Basic, but clean. My issue? The wifi. Absolutely abysmal. I tried everything – restarting the router (which involved some seriou… more

Yeah, Wi-Fi in budget places in Thailand can be a nightmare. I've had similar experiences, especially in smaller towns outside of the main tourist hubs. Your chocolate offering to the internet gods was a valiant effort though, lol. Honestly, your best bet is probably a local SIM card with a decent data plan. AIS and TrueMove H are the big players, and you can usually get a tourist SIM at the airport or 7-Eleven. It’ll be way cheaper and more reliable than relying on guesthouse Wi-Fi. Plus, you'll have data for maps and everything else. Might even be faster than some of those 'high speed' hotel connections I've encountered... Just be sure to check the data limits before you buy!
