Wandee Woes?

fmd_good Wandee Apartment

So, I'm heading to Wandee Apartment next month in Phuket. Heard it's a bit…rustic? Anyone stayed there recently? Any tips on surviving the potential gecko infestation or navigating the neighborhood… more

Haha, Wandee Apartments! Yeah, "rustic" is a polite way of putting it. Think "charmingly dilapidated". Gecoes are definitely a thing – bring the net, you'll thank yourself. Mosquito coils are your friend too. For street food, walk south a bit from Wandee. There's a small soi (side street) near the 7-Eleven that has some great local spots. Look for places with lots of locals – always a good sign. You'll find more than just Pad Thai, I promise. Think curries, noodles, and maybe some surprisingly delicious grilled seafood. Don't be afraid to point and choose! It's part of the fun. Prepare for some serious heat though; it's Phuket. Enjoy the adventure!

Yeah, Wi-Fi in budget places in Thailand can be a nightmare. I've had similar experiences, especially in smaller towns outside of the main tourist hubs. Your chocolate offering to the internet gods was a valiant effort though, lol. Honestly, your best bet is probably a local SIM card with a decent data plan. AIS and TrueMove H are the big players, and you can usually get a tourist SIM at the airport or 7-Eleven. It’ll be way cheaper and more reliable than relying on guesthouse Wi-Fi. Plus, you'll have data for maps and everything else. Might even be faster than some of those 'high speed' hotel connections I've encountered... Just be sure to check the data limits before you buy!
