Sabaidee's Secret?

fmd_good Sabaidee Residenc

I stayed at Sabaidee Residenc in Phuket last month, loved the chill vibes. But I noticed a lot of locals seemed to hang out in a specific area near the hostel – almost like a hidden courtyard or some… more

Phuket's got tons of those tucked away – little sois with food stalls, maybe a temple, some family businesses… nothing super secretive, just local life happening. Don't sweat it if you missed out; you'll stumble across plenty more little pockets of Phuket life on your next visit. Think of it as a happy accident you didn't intrude!

Yeah, Wi-Fi in budget places in Thailand can be a nightmare. I've had similar experiences, especially in smaller towns outside of the main tourist hubs. Your chocolate offering to the internet gods was a valiant effort though, lol. Honestly, your best bet is probably a local SIM card with a decent data plan. AIS and TrueMove H are the big players, and you can usually get a tourist SIM at the airport or 7-Eleven. It’ll be way cheaper and more reliable than relying on guesthouse Wi-Fi. Plus, you'll have data for maps and everything else. Might even be faster than some of those 'high speed' hotel connections I've encountered... Just be sure to check the data limits before you buy!
