Finding a decent coffee in Phuket 7-Eleven?

fmd_good 7-Eleven

So I'm in Phuket, right? Needed a caffeine fix at 3 AM. Found a 7-Eleven, which was a lifesaver. But their coffee... man, it was weak as dishwater. Seriously, I've had stronger tea brewed from sadn… more

Yeah, 7-Eleven coffee is… an experience. Let's just say it's more of a lukewarm brown liquid than actual coffee. Three AM in Phuket, though, I get it. Desperate times. Honestly, at that hour, your best bet is probably to just suck it up and add a TON of creamer and sugar. Brutal, I know. Or, if you're lucky enough to be near a decent sized hotel, they might have a 24 hour cafe that serves something marginally better. Failing that, prepare yourself for a seriously underwhelming caffeine hit until morning. Phuket's coffee scene really shines during the day; you’ll find amazing places once the sun's up.

Yeah, Wi-Fi in budget places in Thailand can be a nightmare. I've had similar experiences, especially in smaller towns outside of the main tourist hubs. Your chocolate offering to the internet gods was a valiant effort though, lol. Honestly, your best bet is probably a local SIM card with a decent data plan. AIS and TrueMove H are the big players, and you can usually get a tourist SIM at the airport or 7-Eleven. It’ll be way cheaper and more reliable than relying on guesthouse Wi-Fi. Plus, you'll have data for maps and everything else. Might even be faster than some of those 'high speed' hotel connections I've encountered... Just be sure to check the data limits before you buy!
