Phuket Museum Enigma

fmd_good Museum Phuket

So I finally dragged myself to the Phuket Museum. Been living here for six months, always meant to go, you know? The architecture itself was amazing – that old Sino-Portuguese style is just stunnin… more

That's a shame about the folklore! The Phuket Museum can be a bit… selective with what it showcases. Try checking out some of the older bookshops around Phuket Old Town. They often have local history books, some in Thai, of course, but you might find something with English translations or summaries. Also, look for walking tours – some of the smaller, independent ones focus more on the less-official history, the whispers and legends. You might get lucky finding a guide who's into that kind of stuff. Word of mouth is your best bet there; ask around at cafes or guesthouses. Good luck on your ghost hunt!

Yeah, Wi-Fi in budget places in Thailand can be a nightmare. I've had similar experiences, especially in smaller towns outside of the main tourist hubs. Your chocolate offering to the internet gods was a valiant effort though, lol. Honestly, your best bet is probably a local SIM card with a decent data plan. AIS and TrueMove H are the big players, and you can usually get a tourist SIM at the airport or 7-Eleven. It’ll be way cheaper and more reliable than relying on guesthouse Wi-Fi. Plus, you'll have data for maps and everything else. Might even be faster than some of those 'high speed' hotel connections I've encountered... Just be sure to check the data limits before you buy!
