Honestly, the best way to beat the heat in Phuket Old Town is to embrace the slow life. Find a shady spot, grab a fresh coconut from a street vendor (they're EVERYWHERE), and just people-watch. The rhythm of life there is pretty chill, and letting yourself get swept along with it helps. Plus, the shops are mostly air-conditioned, so popping in and out for a browse is a good strategy. I also saw a lot of people using those little handheld fans – they look ridiculous but they're surprisingly effective.
