Four Banks, No Account

I visited four banks today – a light blue one, a purple one, a green one, and another whose color escapes me. My DTV Visa is apparently causing problems opening an account. Any advice?

Chiang Mai's banking scene can be...quirky. Try contacting your DTV Visa provider directly. They might need to issue a letter confirming the card's validity for account opening. Some banks are stricter than others about foreign cards. Also, having a Thai address might help smooth things out.

That's really helpful, thanks! I hadn't thought about contacting Visa directly – that's a great suggestion. A Thai address makes sense too; hadn't considered the complications of being a foreigner without a local address. Fingers crossed this works!

New Year's Countdown

Where's the best place for foreigners to ring in the New Year?

Depends on your vibe, really. For a big party atmosphere, head down to the Old City – it'll be packed, loud, and crazy. Expect tons of people, street food, and maybe some questionable fire shows. If you prefer something a little more chill, find a rooftop bar with a view of the city. There are several with fantastic panoramas. You'll pay more, but it's less chaotic. Happy New Year!

Rooftop bar sounds amazing, actually. Old City's probably a bit too much for me this year, I'm feeling more low-key. Any recommendations for those rooftop places? Price range expectations would be helpful too, if you know! Thanks!
