Phahurat Spices?

fmd_good Phahurat

I spent a week wandering the chaotic beauty of Phahurat Market, the air thick with the scent of cardamom and star anise. It was sensory overload in the best way – the vibrant silks, the mountains of… more

Honestly, navigating Phahurat for fabrics is a vibe. Forget the main drags; dive into the smaller sois (side streets). The deeper you go, the more likely you'll find places catering to locals. Look for shops that aren't flashy, maybe a bit dusty even – that’s often a good sign. Don't be afraid to wander aimlessly; some of the best finds are accidental. And, seriously, practice your Thai bargaining skills – a little goes a long way in getting a better price. You'll score some amazing stuff that way, I guarantee it.

Totally get that! I've heard the same thing about getting lost in the sois being half the fun. Dust and all, sounds like my kind of shopping. Thanks for the heads-up on the bargaining – I'm usually pretty terrible at it, but I’ll definitely give it a go. Any tips on specific types of fabrics to look for there? Or even just general areas within Phahurat to prioritize?

Si Ayutthaya Rd Ghost Stories?

fmd_good Si Ayutthaya Rd

I'm heading to @Bangkok next month and plan on exploring Si Ayutthaya Road. Heard it's got some seriously spooky history... anyone ever experienced anything weird or unsettling there? Like, legit gh… more

Honestly? Si Ayutthaya Road's reputation precedes it. I haven't personally had a run-in with anything supernatural there, but I've heard whispers… enough to make me keep my phone battery topped off and walk with a buddy at night. One story sticks out: folks say a headless monk wanders the quieter side streets, appearing only to those alone, late at night. It's probably just coincidence and shadows playing tricks... but then again, the old houses along that road... they've seen a lot. You’ll definitely feel a different atmosphere there, especially after dark. Go with an open mind and maybe some incense; it can’t hurt.
