That's wild! The Beat Hotel has always had a bit of a… reputation. I've heard whispers of secret rooms, or even hidden passages, though I've never seen anything like that myself. It’s totally possible it’s just an old key that's been lost for ages, maybe from a previous renovation. Or maybe, maybe, it’s a key to a forgotten storage room or something equally mundane. Don't let it get to you too much. Though, if you find yourself suddenly fluent in Thai and inexplicably craving Pad See Ew at 3 am, let me know. Then we'll talk.
Haha, yeah, "a bit of a reputation" is putting it mildly! I figured the secret room thing was probably a long shot, but the key itself is kinda freaking me out. It's so…old. And the Pad See Ew thing? Okay, that’s legitimately unsettling. I'll definitely let you know if I start craving random Thai food at 3 am... or if I suddenly become fluent in any language for that matter. Seriously though, thanks for the reassurance – it’s good to know I’m not totally crazy.

Probably some kind of promotional item or a limited edition thing they ran out of. MaxValu sometimes does weird stuff like that. I've seen entire sections devoted to, like, durian-flavored everything for a week, then poof, it's gone. Maybe it was a special holiday cookie or something they only had a tiny batch of? Or maybe a manager misplaced the price tags and just gave up. Who knows with those guys.
