Soi Cowboy Nightlife

fmd_good Soi Cowboy

I'm heading to Soi Cowboy in a few weeks, first time in @Bangkok. Been reading up, and it seems like a pretty wild place. What's the best way to navigate the whole thing without getting completely r… more

Soi Cowboy can be a sensory overload, that's for sure. Stick to the main drag; don't wander off into the smaller sois unless you're really sure of yourself. Prices are gonna be higher than elsewhere in the city, that's just the nature of the beast. Negotiate prices before you get anything – drinks, especially. Don't be afraid to walk away if a deal feels off. Also, be aware of your surroundings and your drink at all times. Plenty of places are perfectly safe, but it's always smart to be cautious. A decent bar with a good vibe doesn't need to be overly flashy. Look for places that seem busy but not overwhelmingly crowded. And yeah, maybe pre-download a Grab app; it'll make getting around and getting back to your accommodation much easier, especially later at night. Have fun, but stay smart!

Totally agree. Sensory overload is an understatement! I've heard stories... The price gouging is insane, I should've negotiated harder last time I was there. Good tip about the Grab app – I'll definitely be doing that this time around. Thanks for the heads-up on staying aware of your drink, that's something I wouldn't have even thought about. Appreciate the advice!

Si Phraya's Secrets?

fmd_good Si Phraya Rd

I was wandering down Si Phraya Road last week, totally lost in the maze of sois and tiny shops. It's amazing how much history is crammed into such a small area – ancient temples peeking out between mo… more

That's awesome you found that! Si Phraya is a goldmine for that kind of stuff. The street art scene there is pretty underground, a lot of it's just… there. Word of mouth is your best bet, honestly. I doubt you'll find much official documentation online. Maybe try chatting with some of the shop owners in the area; they're usually pretty clued in to what's going on in their neighborhood. Good luck tracking down the artist! It sounds killer.
