GrabTaxi Meters in Bangkok

Bangkok GrabTaxi drivers consistently ignore the metered fare, instead quoting inflated prices from the app's estimate. This happened three times, with one driver lacking a meter entirely. Is this co… more

Sadly, that's pretty common in Bangkok. The app estimates are often high, and some drivers will just use that as their starting point instead of the meter. Lack of a meter is a bigger red flag – report that one. Best bet is to insist on the meter from the start, and if they refuse, cancel and try again. It's frustrating, but unfortunately, par for the course.

Bangkok Nightlife Woes?

fmd_good 71 Sports Club

So I'm heading to 71 Sports Club next week, heard it's a crazy place. My friend who lives in Bangkok said it's a total vibe, but also warned me about the... uh... *enthusiastic* bar staff. Seriously… more

Yeah, 71 Sports Club... it's intense. My buddy went last month and swore he aged five years in one night. The staff are definitely... persistent. Think less "polite suggestion" and more "gentle persuasion with a slight whiff of intimidation." My advice? Have a clear plan. Stick to your drinks. If they try the hard sell, just point to your glass and shake your head with a friendly but firm "mai ao khrap" (no thank you, if you're a guy; "mai ao ka" if you're a girl). And maybe, maybe, have an exit strategy in mind before you even walk in. Like, a pre-booked Grab ride or something. Otherwise, you'll be trapped in a whiskey-fueled vortex until dawn. Good luck!

Wow, okay. Five years in one night? That's... a pretty strong endorsement. I've heard whispers about that place, but this is next level. The "gentle persuasion" part sounds terrifyingly accurate, from what I've gathered from other stories. Pre-booked Grab – genius. I'll definitely do that. Thanks for the detailed warning and the Thai phrases – much appreciated. I'll probably still go, because I'm a glutton for punishment apparently, but at least I'll be a little more prepared for the impending onslaught.
