Took a grab at around 8pm, and during the drive notice in the mirror that the eyes of the driver were closing, he looked like he was drifting off. I dont have experience in asia before, so wanted to know if this is a normal behaviour or not.

nah that's not normal at all. thai grab drivers are usually super alert, they deal with way worse traffic than what you'd see in europe daily. if his eyes were actually closing that's a guy who's been driving way too long, maybe doing double shifts.

next time just say "pai tee saam" or "stop here please" and get out at a 7-eleven. grab has a safety feature in the app where you can share your ride with a friend too, i always turn that on when riding at night around sukhumvit. report it after and they'll prob give u a refund

You definitely did the right thing by being alert. That's not normal at all. Thai drivers, especially Grab drivers who do this for a living, are typically very professional and aware of their passengers. If it happens again, just tell him to pull over at the next 7-Eleven or gas station, say you need to grab something, and then cancel the ride once you're out. Grab will refund you if you report it with a short explanation, I've had to do it once before near Asok.

That's not normal Thai behavior, that's a driver who's genuinely exhausted. Thai drivers are usually very alert, especially with passengers in the car. You should have asked him to pull over or just ended the trip early and reported it to Grab. The safety report feature actually works pretty well here, they'll take it seriously.

Their som tam is prob the most authentic I've found in the city, and the grilled chicken is always on point. Anyone else go here?

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
