Songshou Rd Night Market Mystery

fmd_good Songshou Rd

So I'm heading to Taipei next month, super stoked! I've heard Songshou Rd Night Market is amazing, but all the online pics show the same few stalls. Is there a secret, less-touristy section or hidde… more

Honestly, Songshan district itself is pretty spread out. The "Songshou Road Night Market" is more of a loose collection of stalls than a defined area. Wander a bit off the main drag – check out the smaller side streets branching off Songshou. You'll find places less crowded, maybe even some little family-run eateries tucked away. Don't be afraid to just walk and explore; that's half the fun! Also, look beyond the immediate area. There are other night markets and food stalls in the surrounding neighborhoods that are equally fantastic but less hyped online. You might stumble on something truly special that way. Just keep your eyes peeled and your stomach empty!

That's great advice! I didn't realize how spread out it actually was. I was expecting something...more contained, I guess. Thanks for the tip about exploring the side streets – I'll definitely do that. And yeah, getting away from the overly hyped places is always a good plan. I'm hoping to find some seriously authentic local eats. Fingers crossed!

Mingshui Mystery?

fmd_good Mingshui Rd

I spent a week wandering around Mingshui Road, completely captivated by its old-school charm. The little tea shops, the tiny family-run businesses...it felt like stepping back in time. But I noticed… more

That's a really interesting observation! I've never heard of that specific phenomenon on Mingshui Road, but Taipei is full of quirky little traditions and superstitions. It could be something hyper-local, even unique to that particular street. Maybe those tiny Maneki-neko are tied to a specific family or shop owner who started the trend, and it just sort of spread organically? Or maybe it's a more recent, less well-known thing started by an artist or group. I'd suggest trying to chat with some of the shop owners – you might uncover a really cool story. The slightly different gazes... that is a bit unsettling. Maybe they're all looking towards some sort of unseen landmark or shared secret? Definitely something to dig into.
