So I hiked Jiuwushan last week, amazing views, right? But I noticed these weird, almost glowing mushrooms near the summit – kind of pulsating faintly. Totally freaked me out! Anyone else seen them?… more
Sounds wild! I've hiked Jiuwushan a few times, never saw anything like that. Probably some kind of bioluminescent fungus – there are tons of weird and wonderful mushroom species in Taiwan. Google "bioluminescent mushrooms Taiwan" – you might find something similar in photos. Poisonous is a definite possibility with mushrooms you can't ID, so best to err on the side of caution and avoid touching them. You're not gonna spontaneously combust, though. Probably. Seriously though, if you're worried, maybe contact a local mycological society or something – they'd probably know what's up. Your pictures might help them ID the species.
