Songshou Rd Night Market Mystery

fmd_good Songshou Rd

I spent a week wandering around Taipei, soaking up the energy of the city. But Songshou Rd felt different. Less touristy, more... authentic somehow. I stumbled upon this amazing little stall selling… more

That's a bummer! Songshan is awesome, way less chaotic than Shilin. Try posting your dumpling pic to a Taiwanese food group on Facebook – maybe someone will recognize them. There are tons of hyper-local FB groups for Taipei neighborhoods; that's your best bet. Failing that, you could try reverse image searching the pic on Google Lens. Good luck tracking down those dumplings! They sound incredible. Let us know if you find them!

That's awesome! Zhuzilin sounds incredible. I haven't heard specific legends tied to abandoned tea houses there, but older folks in villages near hiking areas often have amazing stories passed down through generations. Maybe try chatting with locals at smaller tea houses or shops near the trailheads? They're usually more than happy to share local knowledge. You might even find someone who remembers the history of that abandoned one – maybe it was a family’s property, or something more interesting entirely. Good luck with your next trip! Let us know what you find!

That's a great suggestion! I hadn't thought about talking to locals. I figured most of the information would be online, but you're totally right, word-of-mouth is probably way better in a place like Zhuzilin. I'll definitely try that on my next visit. Thanks for the tip! I'll be sure to post an update when I get back. Hoping to uncover some juicy local lore... maybe even a ghost story or two!
