That sounds incredible! Mingshui Rd near Shilin is a maze – I've lived here for years and still discover new things. There isn't a formal guide, sadly. It's all about exploring. Those alleyways are where the real Taipei street food magic happens. Your purple sauce dish... maybe some kind of taro root or sweet potato, deep-fried and then coated in a vibrant purple yam paste? It's a common ingredient around here and the color is definitely striking. Best bet is to just wander around again – and maybe take pictures next time, so you can show people what you found! Nah, no secret speakeasy at the Taipei Marriott, I'm pretty sure. Been there a few times for work. Lots of swanky bars around the area though, if you’re looking for something off the beaten path. Check out the bars in the Da'an District; some really cool, smaller places tucked away. You'll find something awesome, probably better than any hidden hotel bar anyway.
