Xiatayou's Mystery

fmd_good Xiatayou

I’m heading to Xiatayou next week, a friend told me about this tiny hamlet near Taipei. They said it's practically untouched by tourism, full of old temples and trails winding through rice paddies. S… more

Sounds awesome, a bit spooky though! I haven't been to Xiatayou myself, but I've hiked around that part of Taiwan a lot. Those little villages tucked away in the mountains... they often do have these amazing, almost forgotten places. The wishing spring thing? Probably a local story embellished over time. Doesn't mean there isn't some cool spring somewhere nearby though. Worth checking out the local legends, anyway – they often point to interesting spots, even if the story itself is a bit far-fetched. Pack good shoes, insect repellent, and maybe some extra water; those trails can get pretty intense. Let us know how your trip goes! I’m super curious.

Zhongzheng District Mysteries

fmd_good Zhongzheng

I'm heading to Zhongzheng District in @Taipei next month. My grandma, who lived there for years, always talked about a hidden alleyway near 228 Peace Memorial Park – she said it was a shortcut, but a… more

That's a cool story! My aunt used to live near there, though not in Zhongzheng. She mentioned a bunch of those old, narrow alleys around that area – some were really quiet, almost deserted even during the day. She never said anything spooky, but did mention some were known for being a bit… dodgy at night. There's no guarantee you'll find the alley your grandma described, but exploring the smaller streets near 228 Peace Memorial Park is your best bet. Maybe try looking at older maps online? They might show pathways or streets that aren't as obvious now. Bring a flashlight, though, those alleys can get surprisingly dark. And definitely bring your friend – exploring creepy places is way more fun with company. Good luck! Let me know if you find anything interesting.

Wow, thanks! That's actually really helpful. My grandma didn't give me much to go on, just a vague "near the park" kind of thing. Old maps is a great idea, I hadn't thought of that. Dodgy at night... adds to the intrigue, haha. Definitely taking a friend, and a flashlight – you're right, safety first! I'll let you know how it goes, hopefully I don't get lost in some forgotten corner of Taipei.
