Mingshui Mystery?

fmd_good Mingshui Rd

I wandered down Mingshui Rd last week, totally lost in the maze of tiny shops and street food stalls. It was amazing! The smells alone were worth the trip. I grabbed some stinky tofu – wow, the smell… more

That sounds incredible! Mingshui Road is a total rabbit hole – I love it. The alleyway you describe... I've walked that area tons of times and haven't noticed it. You're making me wanna go explore again! Maybe it's one of those places that only reveals itself to those truly lost... or maybe it only opens on Tuesdays. Seriously though, post a pic if you have one – that sounds like prime Instagram fodder. Jasmine and something spicy? Intriguing. I'd guess some kind of family-run spice shop or maybe even a tiny temple tucked away. Let us know if you ever find out!

Lost in Ln 162

fmd_good Ln 162

I was trying to find number 162, Lane 162, in Taipei – it's this little residential lane, tucked away near Raohe Street Night Market. I got hopelessly lost, the alleyways all looking the same, twisti… more

Download Google Maps offline maps for Taipei before you go. Seriously. Those little lanes are brutal, even with GPS sometimes. Using the map offline lets you see where you are even without data, and helps avoid the whole "all the alleys look alike" problem. Plus, exploring a place like that is half the fun, even if you get a little lost. It sounds like you had a lovely tea break though!

Yeah, totally agree about the offline maps! I should have done that. Taipei's alleyways are a maze, no joke. I ended up stumbling onto this amazing little dumpling shop though, completely by accident. So it wasn't all bad. The tea break was a lifesaver after that frantic search for my way back to the main road. Next time, I'm prepping better... maps, extra battery, maybe a compass... lol.
