Jiuwushan Hike

fmd_good Jiuwushan

So I finally tackled Jiuwushan last weekend. The views were insane, seriously breathtaking. But I noticed a lot of the trail markers were... faded? Almost impossible to see in places. Made navigat… more

Yeah, the trail markers on Jiuwushan are notoriously… optimistic in their visibility. I've been a few times and it's always a bit of a gamble. My advice? Download offline maps before you go – Gaia GPS or something similar. Those things saved my bacon more than once. And bring a portable charger. Zhongzheng is great for that! Skip the mega-temples and head to 228 Peace Memorial Park – the vibe is totally different from the usual tourist spots. It's huge, has great city views, and you'll see locals doing everything from tai chi to just hanging out. For food, wander the smaller side streets near the park; you'll stumble upon places not in any guidebook. Don't be afraid to just point at a menu and try something! You'll find amazing little noodle shops and street food stalls that way. Really, getting lost in those back alleys is half the fun. It’s all about absorbing the everyday life of Taipei, not hitting checklist items.
