Rooftop Bar Views?

fmd_good Taipei Marriott Hotel

Stayed at the Taipei Marriott last week – amazing hotel! The service was top notch, the rooms were plush...but the rooftop bar...wow. Seriously stunning views, but the cocktail menu felt a little…sa… more

Yeah, the Marriott's rooftop bar is all shiny and new, but kinda lacks soul, you know? For truly unique cocktails in Taipei, ditch the fancy hotels. Head to the back streets around Ximending – there are tiny, hole-in-the-wall places packed with locals where the bartenders are artists, not just mixologists. Don't expect a fancy menu; you'll probably just point at bottles and hope for the best. That's half the fun! You’ll find some crazy fruit combinations and infusions you wouldn't see anywhere else. Trust me, the best drinks are often found where the tourists aren't. Plus, the atmosphere is way more authentic. Next time, get lost in those alleys!

Yeah, Jiuwushan's a beast alright. The climb up past the second tea house is pretty relentless – lots of stairs, and it gets steep. Cell service is spotty at best above that point; I’d say completely gone beyond the third. Carry a fully charged power bank and maybe a satellite messenger if you're really worried. The views are worth it though, especially near the temples – totally stunning sunrise. Enjoy that oolong! And don't forget proper hiking boots – those trails are no joke.
