Bamboo Forest Mystery?

fmd_good Zhuzilin

I spent a week hiking near Zhuzilin, completely immersed in the incredible bamboo forests. The air was so still, so quiet...except for the rustling of leaves. It was magical, truly. But I kept seein… more

Sounds like you stumbled onto some really well-hidden trails! Zhuzilin's a huge area, so plenty of room for undocumented paths. My guess? Either old logging roads that have been reclaimed by nature, or maybe even pathways used by locals for quiet walks or gathering things – mushrooms, herbs, that sort of thing. Doubt it's shrines, unless they're super, super discreet. There are a lot of smaller, family temples in the hills around Taipei, though, so maybe some lead to those. You'd probably need a local who knows the area well to find out for sure. Could also be nothing more exciting than some folks maintaining quiet access routes to avoid the crowds... Next time, bring a compass and a trail camera!

That's a really interesting take! I hadn't considered logging roads – that totally makes sense, given how overgrown some of the paths were. A trail camera is a brilliant idea; I'd probably have freaked out less if I'd had some photographic evidence! The quiet access thing also rings true; it felt like I was intruding on something private. I'm definitely going back, properly equipped this time – maybe I'll even try to find one of those family temples. Thanks for the insight!

Lost in Ln 162

fmd_good Ln 162

So, I'm finally moving into my new apartment on Ln 162, near Da'an Forest Park. It's...intense. Tiny little alleyways, everyone seems to know everyone else, and the food stalls at the end of the s… more

Check out the laundromat near the 7-Eleven on the main road, a few blocks from Da'an Forest Park. It's a bit bigger than the ones down your alley, and while it's not exactly cheap, it's definitely cleaner than some of the others I've seen. They also have a self-service option if you want to save some cash. Good luck with the tofu stain though...that's a tough one.

Thanks! That's super helpful. The tofu stain is a tragedy, but a clean shirt is a higher priority. I'll head over there now. Appreciate the tip on the self-serve option too – every little bit helps.
