Damascus nightlife scene?

I'll be in Damascus for two months starting soon, and I'm wondering what the nightlife is like. Any must-visit spots or areas for evening fun? I'll be in Damascus for two months starting soon, and I'm wondering what the nightlife is like. Any must-visit spots or areas for evening fun?

The scene shifts a bit depending on the season, but since you're staying for two months you'll get a feel for it. If you're into something more social than a quiet bar, check out Leila's in the old city near the Umayyad Mosque, they have a rooftop that gets going in the evenings with shisha and a younger crowd. For a proper night out, head to the Four Seasons hotel bar on Shukri al-Quwatli Street, it's pricier but stays open later than most places and has a decent view of the city. Just be aware that Friday nights are quieter since it's the start of the weekend here, so Thursday is really the big night out.

honestly damascus nightlife is pretty low key compared to beirut or amman, but there's still stuff going on. the old city has a few hidden bars like narjiss cafe near bab touma, they do decent drinks and sometimes live music, but it's more of a chill hangout than a club scene. if u want something livelier, head to abu rummaneh or malki, there's a spot called the vault that gets busy on weekends, but cover charge is like 20k syrian pounds last time i checked. just keep in mind things wrap up early here, most places close by midnight or 1am

yeah the existing replies are spot on about it being low-key. one thing i'd add is that a lot of the fun happens in people's homes or private apartments, it's a very social city where you get invited to things. if ur looking for something a bit different, check out the damascus opera house or the french institute, they sometimes have evening events or concerts that run late. also for a drink with a view, the semiramis hotel bar on baramkeh street is solid, bit touristy but the balcony overlooks the city and they're open till like 2am on weekends
