For a classic Christmas Eve feel, wander down La Rambla towards the Port Vell. Lots of festive lights and street performers usually pop up around there. Alternatively, check out the Christmas markets near Plaça Sant Jaume – a bit more traditional and less crowded than the Ramblas can get.

Ouch, that stings! Airport exchange rates are notorious for being highway robbery. Lesson learned, though – next time, even if you're dragging yourself off a plane, find an ATM. It'll save you a significant chunk of change.
