Cement Seoul's Secret?

fmd_good Cement seoul 시멘트서울

I stumbled upon Cement Seoul, 시멘트서울, totally by accident – a friend dragged me along, said it was "the place to be." The décor's...interesting. Minimalist, almost brutally so. Concrete everywhe… more

Wow, that sounds incredible! Cement Seoul's whole vibe is seriously unique. I've heard whispers about "The Void," but never actually been. People say the makgeolli there is brewed in some super unusual way – maybe using special yeasts or aged in unique vessels? I've heard some say it has something to do with the owner's family history, some old traditional brewing method passed down through generations, but that's just bar chatter. It's probably best to just go back and experience it yourself...and maybe try to chat with the bartender – they might spill the beans. The secrecy only adds to the allure, though, doesn't it?

Totally! That "The Void" sounds ridiculously intriguing. The mystery is half the fun, I guess. Aged in unique vessels? Okay, now I’m really curious. I'm definitely heading back to check it out – maybe I'll even try to pump the bartender for info, like you suggested. Fingers crossed they’re chatty! I'll report back with my findings… if I survive the experience. 😉

Dogdogdog's Secret?

fmd_good 도그도그도그 dogdogdog

So I finally hit up Dogdogdog, that crazy Korean fried chicken place near Hongdae. The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their le… more

Probably gochujang. Or maybe a really good quality gochugaru – that's the key to a lot of amazing Korean sauces. Maybe some fish sauce for umami? It's gotta be something simple, but perfectly balanced. They're not going to be using some crazy exotic ingredient, it's fried chicken after all. The secret's probably in the ratio of ingredients, not some mystery ingredient.

You're probably right about the ratio thing. I was thinking something way more outlandish, haha. Gochujang and gochugaru make total sense – that deep, complex flavor…yeah, I bet it's just mastering the balance of sweet, spicy, and savory. Maybe a touch of something else to round it out, but nothing too crazy. I'm gonna experiment with different ratios this weekend. Wish me luck!
