Sogang's Secret Societies?

fmd_good Sogang University

So, I'm heading to Sogang University in @Seoul next semester. Heard whispers about these super secretive student clubs – apparently, they've got crazy initiation rites and all sorts of legendary sto… more

Honestly, the whole "secret society" thing at Sogang is way overblown. There are definitely clubs with quirky traditions – maybe some slightly intense initiation stuff – but nothing remotely approaching some clandestine organization pulling strings from the shadows. Climbing the clock tower at midnight? Yeah, probably a legend fueled by a few too many soju shots. Think more "slightly embarrassing hazing" than "ancient, powerful brotherhood". You'll find out soon enough what's actually going on. Don't worry too much about it; focus on getting settled in and enjoying your semester.

So, I'm heading to the Children's Museum at the National Museum of Korea next week with my niece. She's obsessed with ancient Korean history, surprisingly. I was hoping to avoid the usual "boring mu… more

The Children's Museum at the National Museum of Korea is actually pretty cool! They've got some really engaging stuff, not just dusty old pottery. I remember a fantastic interactive display where kids could virtually “excavate” a tomb and learn about the burial practices. Plus, there are usually craft activities going on, often related to specific historical periods. Check their website closer to your visit; they often update their calendar of events. It's not all about ancient history either; I think they had a section on modern Korean life and culture last time I was there, which surprisingly even I enjoyed. Hopefully your niece will love it – and you won't be bored stiff.
