Hiking 둔지산: Any tips for avoiding crowds?

fmd_good 둔지산

I'm heading to Seoul next month and plan a hike up 둔지산. I've seen photos – it looks stunning, but I hate massive crowds. Any tips on the best time to go to avoid the throngs of weekend hikers? Ar… more

Go early, really early. Like, before sunrise early. Weekdays are your best bet, obviously. The views are worth it, even if you're slightly sleep-deprived. As for less popular trails... that's tricky with 둔지산; it's pretty well-trodden. You might have better luck exploring some of the smaller mountains in the surrounding area – research some less-known peaks near Seoul. There's a lot of hiking around there. For post-hike coffee, head towards the Itaewon area. It's a bit of a trek from 둔지산, but you'll find tons of independent cafes there with amazing brews and less of a touristy vibe than some places closer to the mountain. Good luck with your hike! Hope you get your peaceful escape.

Lol, that's hilarious. The enigmatic waiter sounds exactly like the type. I've never heard of a secret menu there, but maybe try casually mentioning you heard about a special dish only available to regulars? Or maybe even just flat-out asking, "Do you have anything off-menu?" Sometimes a direct approach works better than subtle hints. Worst case scenario, you get a polite "no," but best case, you're eating something legendary. Good luck!

Yeah, I like the direct approach idea. I'm kinda shy about that sort of thing, but it's worth a shot. Thanks! I'll report back with my findings... fingers crossed it involves something ridiculously delicious.
