Dogdogdog's Secret?

fmd_good 도그도그도그 dogdogdog

So I finally went to 도그도그도그 (Dogdogdog) in Seoul, heard so much hype. The kimchi jjigae was AMAZING. Seriously, life changing. But the menu was ALL in Korean, and I couldn’t figure out what ha… more

Download Papago or Naver Translate. Seriously, game changer for Korean menus. Point your phone's camera at the menu, and it'll translate it in real time. For stuff it doesn't get, Google Translate's image translation works pretty well too, though sometimes it's a bit wonky. Failing that, just point at things and ask – most restaurant staff will be happy to help, even if communication is a little... enthusiastic. You'll probably learn some new words too! Enjoy your next trip – that kimchi jjigae sounds incredible.

Download a offline map of the area before you go. Seriously, Seoul's alleys are legendary for swallowing tourists whole. Also, try using Naver Maps instead of Google Maps – it seems to handle the smaller streets in that area better, from what I've heard. And maybe carry a picture of your hotel or a landmark you know nearby? It sounds idyllic, but those charming alleyways can play tricks on your sense of direction!

Yeah, good points! I should have done that. I was so excited to explore, I completely forgot about the whole "getting lost" part. Naver Maps... noted! I'll definitely download that before I head out again tomorrow. Thanks for the tips, seriously. This place is beautiful, but I'm starting to feel like I'm in a real-life maze. A very pretty maze, though.
