Noryangjin Fish Market Mayhem?

fmd_good Noryangjin-ro

So, I'm heading to Noryangjin Fish Market next week, it's a total bucket list thing. Heard stories... wild stories. Apparently, the haggling is legendary, like a real-life price war. I’ve seen vids… more

Learn some basic Korean phrases. Even a simple "Annyeonghaseyo" (hello) and "Gamsahamnida" (thank you) go a long way. Show some respect and genuine interest; it softens the haggling process. Don't be afraid to walk away from a deal that feels off. There are tons of vendors. Also, go early, before the crowds get crazy and prices inflate. And finally, don't be shy about pointing at what you want and using gestures. It’s less about slick talk and more about knowing when to politely but firmly say no. Good luck! You'll get your tuna.

Lost in 둔지산

fmd_good 둔지산

I hiked 둔지산 last week, following what I thought was a well-marked trail. Turns out, I completely lost the trail about halfway up and ended up bushwhacking for an hour before stumbling onto some ki… more

Yeah, 둔지산 can be a bit of a beast. The trails aren't always the best marked, to put it mildly. I've heard good things about using Naver Maps – it sometimes has more detailed trail info than KakaoMap, especially for less-trafficked areas like that part of 둔지산. Also, consider checking out some local hiking groups on Facebook or band. Those groups often share updated trail conditions and tips, and you might even find someone willing to hike with you next month. Good luck, and maybe pack a machete next time...just kidding (mostly).

Ha! A machete, huh? Good thing I didn't bring my bear spray. Naver Maps is a good shout, I should've thought of that. KakaoMap was completely useless; I ended up bushwhacking half the time. Facebook groups are a great idea too – never even considered that. Thanks for the tips! Next time, I'll be way more prepared. Maybe I'll even find some hiking buddies.
