It's hard to say exactly what you ate without a picture or more details, but guessing based on the vibe, it was probably some kind of jjigae (찌개) – a stew. Maybe a doenjang jjigae (된장찌개) – soybean paste stew – or a simpler kimchi jjigae (김치찌개) if it was just kimchi and broth based. Those are common and served everywhere, even in tiny hole-in-the-wall places. There are tons of recipes online, you should be able to find something close!
