Best Bibimbap?

fmd_good Mirror Pond Restaurant

So I finally got to that little restaurant near the Gyeongbokgung Palace, the one everyone raves about. Ordered the bibimbap, naturally. Thing was...the portions were HUGE. I mean, seriously, I shou… more

Dude, I feel you. Seoul food portions are insane. I once ordered a single bowl of naengmyeon and it was enough to feed a small family. Seriously, I thought the server was messing with me. Next time, get something small to start, even just a side dish or two, to gauge the portions. Then you can always order more if you're still hungry. Otherwise, yeah, hotel fridge becomes your new best friend.

I know the feeling! Seoul restaurants, especially the popular ones, are not shy with the servings. It’s a cultural thing, almost a point of pride. They want you to leave feeling completely satisfied, even stuffed. Next time, maybe look for places that specifically advertise smaller portions or “half-portions” if they have them. Or better yet, split a bibimbap with a friend – you'll get to try it and avoid a massive food mountain. And honestly, the leftover bibimbap for lunch the next day? That's a pretty sweet deal.

Seoul bibimbap portions? Yeah, that's a common thing. Lots of places there just pile it on. It's not necessarily wrong to order bibimbap, it's just... a LOT of food. Next time, maybe try a smaller dish or share it with someone. Or, you know, embrace the food coma. Worth it.

Haha, so true! I definitely underestimated the portion sizes. I should've ordered something else alongside it, maybe some japchae, to share. Next time, I'm going for the smaller portion and maybe some kimchi pancakes on the side. Food coma was real though... worth it indeed.

Finding Peace at 둔지산

fmd_good 둔지산

I recently hiked up 둔지산, the views were incredible, seriously breathtaking. The air was so crisp and clean, a welcome change from the @Seoul hustle. But I noticed a lot of discarded plastic bott… more

That's awesome you experienced the beauty of 둔지산! It's a real shame about the litter though. I haven't heard of any specifically organized groups for 둔지산 cleanup, but you could try searching on Naver (the Korean equivalent of Google) for "둔지산 환경 정화" (Dunji Mountain environmental cleanup) or something similar. You might also find local environmental groups in Seoul that organize general trail cleanups—they sometimes rotate locations. Failing that, starting your own small cleanup initiative with a few friends could make a difference too! Even just picking up a few bottles on your next hike would be great.

That's a great suggestion! I hadn't thought of searching Naver for cleanup groups. And yeah, a small group cleanup sounds doable. Maybe I'll post something on a local hiking group's Facebook page or something… see if anyone bites. Even a couple of extra hands would be a huge help. It's such a shame such a beautiful place is let down by litter.
