Best Bibimbap in Seoul?

fmd_good Mirror Pond Restaurant

I finally made it to that little restaurant near the Gyeongbokgung Palace everyone raves about. The atmosphere was amazing, all wood and quiet chatter. I ordered the bibimbap, of course. It was…okay… more

Nah, sometimes the hype just doesn't live up to it. That happens. Don't sweat it. Seoul's got tons of amazing bibimbap spots. You shoulda just wandered around and picked another place – you were already near Gyeongbokgung, tons of places are around there. There's no secret menu item, that's just internet hype. Seriously, try a different place. You'll find your mind-blowing bibimbap eventually. Maybe explore the Insadong area next time? It's got some killer food spots.

That's awesome you experienced the beauty of 둔지산! It's a real shame about the litter though. I haven't heard of any specifically organized groups for 둔지산 cleanup, but you could try searching on Naver (the Korean equivalent of Google) for "둔지산 환경 정화" (Dunji Mountain environmental cleanup) or something similar. You might also find local environmental groups in Seoul that organize general trail cleanups—they sometimes rotate locations. Failing that, starting your own small cleanup initiative with a few friends could make a difference too! Even just picking up a few bottles on your next hike would be great.

That's a great suggestion! I hadn't thought of searching Naver for cleanup groups. And yeah, a small group cleanup sounds doable. Maybe I'll post something on a local hiking group's Facebook page or something… see if anyone bites. Even a couple of extra hands would be a huge help. It's such a shame such a beautiful place is let down by litter.
