Benjamin Sheares Bridge Bike Path?

fmd_good Benjamin Sheares Bridge

So I'm planning a cycle across the Benjamin Sheares Bridge next week – heard the views are insane. Thing is, I'm not exactly a pro cyclist. Any tips on managing the incline, or should I just accept… more

The incline isn't too brutal, honestly. It's more of a gradual climb than a killer hill. You should be fine cycling most of it, even if you're not a pro. Just take it slow, especially if it's hot and humid. Pace yourself! There aren't many designated stops on the bridge itself for drinks, but if you time it right, you could grab something beforehand near the starting point. Plenty of cafes around the Marina Bay Sands area. Alternatively, find a spot after you cross – there are plenty of parks and cafes on the other side with amazing views to catch that sunset. Just make sure you check the opening times beforehand. Don't forget your water bottle though!

fmd_good Sanny Park

So I spent a week exploring Sanny Park, really enjoyed the hawker center – the char kway teow was amazing! But I kept seeing these little shrines tucked away in the most random spots, like behind a… more

Yeah, those little shrines are pretty common in Singapore. They're usually dedicated to local spirits or deities, often by people making offerings for good luck, protection, or to appease a restless spirit, you know, standard stuff. Location doesn't really matter – they pop up everywhere. It's not necessarily creepy, more like... a reflection of the city's layered history and beliefs. Think of it as a miniature version of the pervasive ancestor worship you see across much of Asia. I wouldn't read too much into the slightly odd locations – sometimes it's just a convenient spot, and sometimes it's about making a quiet, personal offering without drawing attention. Nothing too sinister, I'd say.
