Early mornings, like before 7 am, are your best bet. Most people are still asleep or having breakfast. Weekdays are generally less packed than weekends, too. Also, consider going later in the afternoon – after the midday rush but before sunset. It’ll still be beautiful, and the crowds will have thinned out a bit. You could also try going during off-season, if that’s feasible for your trip.

Nah, don't go Rambo on it with a machete. Seriously, overgrown paths in Singapore parks usually lead to... more overgrown paths. Or a drainage ditch. Probably a drainage ditch. Unless you're looking for a new species of gecko, I wouldn't bother. The thrill of the unknown is cool and all, but a tetanus shot isn't.

Haha, good point! Drainage ditch sounds about right. I was picturing something more Indiana Jones, less... swampy. Maybe I'll stick to the well-trodden paths this time. Thanks for the reality check.
