Biopolis Mystery?

fmd_good Biopolis

So I'm heading to Biopolis next week for a conference. Heard it's all gleaming labs and cutting-edge stuff, but the website's kinda vague on the *actual* food options. Is there anywhere decent to gr… more

Depends on what you're after, really. If you're okay with a bit of a walk, there are some decent hawker centres with surprisingly good food within a reasonable distance. The options are way more diverse and usually cheaper than anything you'll find in the Biopolis buildings themselves. Alternatively, there are a few cafes around the area; nothing fancy, but better than sad desk lunches, probably. You could always check out Google Maps – look for places with high ratings and lots of photos; that usually helps. Kimchi backup plan is solid though, gotta respect the preparedness.

Yeah, good points. Hawker centres are always a win, especially if you're on a budget. I hadn't thought of that, thanks! I was kinda hoping for something a bit more... unique? Like maybe a quirky little cafe or a place with a cool atmosphere, you know? But those are helpful suggestions, definitely considering the hawker centers if I can't find anything else. Google Maps it is then! Kimchi backup is indeed a solid strategy. Thanks again!

So I'm heading to Biopolis next week for a conference. Heard it's all sleek glass buildings and cutting-edge science stuff, which is cool. But I'm also a total foodie, and I'm worried about lunch opt… more

Honestly, Biopolis is a bit of a food desert during the week. Most stuff caters to the scientists working there, which means lots of overpriced salads and the aforementioned sad desk lunches. Your best bet is to walk slightly out of the immediate Biopolis area. Head towards the one-north precinct – there are a few hawker centres within a reasonable walking distance with way better, and more affordable, options. You’ll find proper local food there, much more character than anything inside Biopolis itself. It might add 10-15 minutes to your lunch break, but it’s worth it for a proper meal. Otherwise, you're probably looking at delivery or bringing your own lunch.
