Yeah, it's really intense. Like, way beyond what I expected. The paradox is exactly what got me – all that serene gold leaf amidst the, uh, stuff. I hadn't thought of academic databases, that's a great idea. I'll definitely try JSTOR and those keywords. Thanks! I was kind of hoping for some firsthand accounts from people who'd actually been, though, to get a feel for the...atmosphere. I guess scholarly articles might be more detailed, but less... visceral.
