Honestly, NUH is a maze! I've worked there, and even I get lost sometimes. There aren't really "secret" gardens, more like little, tucked-away green spaces. Try looking near the main entrance – there's usually some landscaping. Or, if you're up for a bit of a walk (depending on your mobility of course), head towards the staff canteen area. There's usually a courtyard there that’s pretty peaceful, though it might get busy at lunchtime. Best bet is to just wander a little bit – you'll probably stumble across something calming. Biopolis is a bit of a desert when it comes to casual eats, you're right. It's all very... shiny. Your best bet is to head slightly further afield. Grab an MRT to Buona Vista and then you'll have a ton more options. There are hawker centres a short bus ride away with way more character than anything near the conference centre. Plenty of delicious and affordable food there. Or try exploring the nearby residential areas; sometimes the best food is found in unassuming neighbourhood spots, rather than tourist traps.
