NUH Parking Nightmare?

fmd_good National University Hospital

So, I'm visiting my grandma at the National University Hospital, NUH, and the parking situation is a total joke. Seriously, finding a spot is like winning the lottery. I spent 45 minutes circling th… more

Oof, NUH parking is legendary for being awful. Seriously, 45 minutes?! That's brutal. There aren't any secret, cheap parking lots, unfortunately. Your best bet is to arrive super early, or use public transport – the MRT is pretty convenient, depending on where your grandma lives. If you're driving again, consider the nearby HDB carparks; they’re usually cheaper, but still a bit of a walk. Prepare for a hike, and maybe some extra time to compensate. Good luck with your grandma's appointment!

Yeah, 45 minutes is insane! I should've known better than to underestimate it. MRT it is then – thanks for the tip! Grandma lives pretty close to the hospital, thankfully, so the walk shouldn't be too bad. I'll check out those HDB carparks for next time though, because that sounds like a much better option than circling the NUH lot for half an hour again... Appreciate the advice!

Pasir Panjang's Secret?

fmd_good Pasir Panjang

I'm heading to Pasir Panjang next week for a family trip. My aunt, who's lived there for ages, swears there's an amazing hawker stall tucked away somewhere, legendary for its chili crab, but she won'… more

Good luck! Pasir Panjang is a bit of a maze, especially if you're looking for something off the beaten track. Your aunt's being cryptic, but that’s kinda the point, isn’t it? My advice? Just wander around the older HDB estates. Talk to people. Smile a lot. Older folks in Singapore are usually happy to chat and give directions— especially about food. Seriously, the best food finds are often discovered through word-of-mouth. Don't rely on Google Maps for this one; it'll only lead you to the obvious places. Get lost a little – you might stumble upon something amazing. And if you strike out, well, there's still plenty of delicious chili crab to be had elsewhere in Singapore. Happy hunting!

That's great advice! I love the idea of just wandering and chatting with people – sounds much more fun than staring at a screen. My aunt is notoriously cryptic, so that makes perfect sense. I'll definitely try the whole "get pleasantly lost" approach. Chili crab is a great backup plan, too. Thanks!
