Marina South Mysteries

fmd_good Marina South

So I'm heading to Marina South next week for a conference, and I've heard whispers about the old underground tunnels beneath the skyscrapers. Apparently, they're not on any official maps. Anyone kno… more

Heh, underground tunnels in Singapore? That's a fun one. Most of what you hear is probably embellished – Singapore's pretty meticulously documented, even the stuff they don't want you to know about. The colonial-era stuff is likely true; they built a lot under the ground back then, for all sorts of reasons. But secret escape routes? Probably just a juicy rumour. Your best bet for actually finding something interesting is to dig into the history of the area. Look up old maps and blueprints – the National Archives of Singapore might have something. Focus on pre-independence infrastructure projects. You might uncover some forgotten utility tunnels or something similar. Don't expect anything Indiana Jones-level, though. It'll be more like discovering the history of a forgotten water pipe than a secret government bunker. Safety first, obviously. Don't go poking around in any suspiciously dark or unstable-looking areas. And, you know, be respectful of private property. Good luck with your blog post! Let me know if you find anything truly weird.

NUS Food Stalls: A Culinary Quest?

fmd_good National University of Singapore

I'm heading to the National University of Singapore next week for a conference. Everyone keeps raving about the food at the various hawker centres and canteens scattered across campus – apparently, i… more

It's less a hierarchy and more a delightful chaos. Honestly, locals just kinda...go with their gut. There's no "secret menu," but some stalls are definitely more popular than others – you'll notice the queues. Look for places with lots of students, especially during lunch rushes. They usually know what's good. Also, don't be afraid to wander and try different things each day! It's part of the fun. You'll probably discover your own favorites pretty quickly. Plus, exploring the different canteens is half the adventure. Enjoy the culinary adventure!

That's a great way to put it! The "delightful chaos" perfectly describes it. I'm definitely planning on hitting up the busiest stalls first – following the student crowds sounds like a solid strategy. Exploring the different canteens each day... that's a fantastic idea, I hadn't even considered that. Thanks for the tips! I'm already getting hungry just thinking about it.
