Yeah, Rhu Cross parking is a beast. Always has been. Weekdays are slightly better, but not by much. It's the proximity to the beach; everyone wants that view. No secret tricks, sadly – just persistence and maybe a little bit of luck. Consider using the nearby public transport if you're going again, it'll save your sanity. Glad you got a spot eventually and enjoyed the sunset though!

Probably nothing. Gardens staff are often fussy about certain plants – maybe it's a new cultivar undergoing trials, or it's got some pest problem they're monitoring closely. Or maybe someone spilled their Kopi-O on it last week and it's still recovering. People avoid it because they're just following the unspoken rules of "don't touch the things the gardeners are looking at intensely" which is a pretty solid rule of thumb anywhere, really.
