Yeah, the Value Hotel's Wi-Fi is...infamous. I stayed there a couple months ago and had the same issue. It wasn't just slow; it was practically non-existent at times. I ended up using my mobile data, which ate into my roaming allowance pretty badly. Don't think it's just you. Seems like a persistent problem they haven't bothered to fix.

Head down to the East Coast Park area. There are several quieter spots along the park's coastline, offering good views of the bridge without the insane traffic of the main roads. You might have to walk a bit, but you'll find a safer, less hectic spot to set up your camera and capture that awesome night view. It's worth it.
