That's awesome you found that hidden kopitiam! Kaya toast is the best. Regarding the alleyway...Singapore has a lot of hidden history crammed into its small space. Many older neighborhoods have these tucked-away bits that survived redevelopment. It's possible that alley was once a much busier area, maybe even a small village before the area's modernization. Old shop signs often linger long after the businesses themselves have closed. Sounds like a good spot for some urban exploration - maybe check out some old maps of that area online? You might find some interesting clues!
