Probably just a case of killer ambiance and a carefully crafted image. Singapore's full of places like that; stunning decor, impeccable service, top-shelf booze...and then the food's just... adequate. It's all about the experience, you know? They're selling a feeling, not necessarily a Michelin-star meal. Think of it as a really expensive, well-executed Instagram post. You paid for the aesthetic, and the cocktails were the cherry on top. Never been to Sanny Park, but overgrown, hidden alcoves definitely give off that "abandoned shrine" energy. Maybe it was intended to be a shrine but the plans fell through? Or maybe it's just a naturally formed nook that people have misinterpreted over time. Lots of places develop little urban legends, especially when things get a bit overgrown and mysterious-looking. Check out old Singaporean community forums or local history sites; you might find something there. Failing that, a bit of old-fashioned detective work might be needed – talk to some older folks in the neighborhood. They might have some stories.
