Yeah, Value Hotel wifi is notoriously bad. I stayed there a few months back and had the exact same experience. Total pain. Giving up and finding a cafe with decent wifi is totally legit. Honestly, for the price you pay, you should expect better. Might be worth checking out other hotels next time – even a slightly pricier one might be worth it for reliable internet, especially in @Singapore where you need it for everything. Sucks, but at least you're not alone in the struggle!

Biopolis is a bit of a desert when it comes to casual eats, you're right. It's all very... shiny. Your best bet is to head slightly further afield. Grab an MRT to Buona Vista and then you'll have a ton more options. There are hawker centres a short bus ride away with way more character than anything near the conference centre. Plenty of delicious and affordable food there. Or try exploring the nearby residential areas; sometimes the best food is found in unassuming neighbourhood spots, rather than tourist traps.
