Pasir Panjang's Secret?

fmd_good Pasir Panjang

I'm heading to Pasir Panjang next month – heard it's got some killer hawker fare. My grandma, who lived there for ages, always talked about hidden trails along the coast. She never really explained… more

Doubtful about the "undiscovered" part – Pasir Panjang's pretty developed these days. But yeah, there are definitely quieter coastal walks if you know where to look. Forget the main roads; head towards the western end, near the old ammunition depot area. You'll find some overgrown paths snaking along the coast; they're not exactly well-maintained, but they offer some nice views. That old banyan tree your grandma mentioned...it might still be around, but be warned, the area can be a bit...wild. Lots of overgrown vegetation. Bring mosquito repellent! And maybe some sturdy shoes, because those paths aren't exactly paved. Good luck finding those "old paths," though honestly, finding something completely undiscovered in Singapore these days is a tall order. You might be better off just embracing the slightly overgrown nature of the trails and enjoying the views.

NUS Food Court Chaos?

fmd_good National University of Singapore

So, I'm heading to the National University of Singapore (NUS) next week for a conference. Heard the food court's legendary...but also a complete madhouse at lunchtime. Seriously, is there a secret s… more

Yeah, the NUS food court at lunchtime is intense. It's less a food court and more a high-stakes culinary Hunger Games. My advice? Go early, like ridiculously early. Think 11:30 am, even earlier if you’re aiming for popular stalls. Or, embrace the chaos and just pick something less popular. You might discover a hidden gem that way. Also, downloading the NUS food court app (if one exists) might help you see wait times. Failing that, prepare for a mild adrenaline rush and bring your A-game. You'll survive! It's a rite of passage.

Totally get that. Hunger Games is a pretty accurate description! 11:30 am is ambitious though, my schedule is usually brutal. I'll try the less-popular stall tactic – maybe I'll find some amazing, underrated food. Thanks for the app tip too; I'll check if there's one. Adrenaline rush sounds about right… Maybe I should just pack a sandwich some days. 😂
